Heavy smokin’ wildfires
No one’s jokin’
This is dire
Buy N95s to stay alive
Who will profit?
Who is deprived?
California is burnin’ to the ground
California, will ya turn around?
Techies takin’ all the housing
Trust fund babies go carousing
Land of milk and land of honey
Gentrifiers blow their money
California burnin’ to the ground
California, will ya turn around?
Like roses that refuse to wilt and die
Like thorns diggin’ deep into your side
You can’t kill the People’s Will
We will find a way here still
Together, though it may take time
Hällas is the prog rock band we've been waiting for. Very few bands pull off being both deep and catchy but these guys nail it. Like Wishbone Ash on a video game quest. Stunning. Psychic Hit
It's so rad to be good friends with musicians you truly admire. We love walking by MD's practice space and hear them craft their breathtaking tunes. This album rips. Can't wait for the next one dudes. Psychic Hit
A new ripping coven has emerged from the Great North and they're called "Rough Spells". Some of the most magnificent doom rock we've heard in a long time. Can't wait to play a show with these folks. Psychic Hit

If Elric had a soundtrack it would be this. It's everything you want from a epic metal album. Like a hot poker in the eye, but in a good way. Scott Malthouse

So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka
Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021
